O fator Angelina Jolie / The Angelina Jolie factor

Seguindo o resultado da pesquisa que eu fiz (valeu, galera, pela participação) vai aqui mais um visu. Essa saia, confesso, comprei depois daquele escandalo da Angelina Jolie com as pernoca de fora. E se ela, que é puro esqueleto, ficou bonita naquela saia, eu tinha certeza que eu, com bastante "carne", ficaria bem também. E fiquei feliz com o resultado. Gosto que ela é um tanto "amassada" porque foge do óbvio, mas só pra ter opções, comprei também uma parecida mas toda lisona. Já deu pra perceber que sou fã de saias mais longas, né?

I confess that I shopped for this skirt after that Angelina Jolie episode sticking her leg out. And I figured that if it looked good on her who's so skinny, it might as well look good on me and all my extra "fluffliness", and I gotta say I'm quite pleased. I like the "crumpled" look this skirt has, but just for the sake of having options, I have also purchased a similar straight, classic-looking maxi skirt. I guess you can tell I'm a fan of longer skirts, can't you?

Vamos confessar: às vezes rola aquela preguiça de montar um look. Aí você está afim de alguma coisa confortável mas que ainda fique bonito. Nessas horas corro para blusas cropped, principalmente de moletom, como essa. Mas aí o look fica meio desleixado e a calça jeans já parece básica demais, então  corro para as saias médias de cintura alta. Amo essas saias devido ao movimento que elas tem, inusitadas, o fato de ser cintura alta, só contribuem para dar uma classe naquele visu que seria total básico e sem graça. E ainda disfarça as gordurinhas. Elegância sem esforço que ainda rende alguns elogios dazamiga!

Sometimes I don't feel like going through all the trouble of dressing up and putting an outfit together. Sometimes it's too time consuming. Sometimes I just want comfort but still something that will look pretty. That's when I go for cropped tops made of some comfortable fabric that I know will look totally sloppy unless I do something about it. Then the A-line skirt comes in. Love the movement they have and since they're high-waisted, they add a sense of class to otherwise what would be a basic and boring look. Effortless elegance, my friends!

At the Copa, Copacabana...

É impressionante a vibe que tem em Copacabana. Não, Copacabana não é a praia preferida dos cariocas, mas você não deixa de ver pessoas malhando na orla, passeando a luz do sol mesmo no "inverno". É um lugar onde é fácil identificar os turistas, não somente pelo tom de pele que ainda precisa de um solzinho mas também pelos olhinhos brilhando, que dizem "Estou em Copacabana!", e esse encanto tem motivo. É um lugar mesmo mágico!

The vibe around Copacabana is really impressive. No, Copacabana isn't the beach of choice of natives of Rio, but you will always see people jogging along the beach and enjoying the sunshine even during our "winter". It's a place where you can easily spot the tourists, not only because of their pale skin which shows they haven't spent enough time sunbathing like the natives do, but also because of their sparkling eyes that say "I'm in Copacabana!" and there is a reason for this magical state of mind. It's a whimsical place, indeed!

Sobre torradas e compras virtuais / About toasts and online shopping

    Recentemente tenho explorado o mundo das compras virtuais. Já comprei (muitos) livros e afins, mas até então, nunca tinha comprado roupas. Minha primeira aventura foi essa blusa de manga comprida com um nó na frente. Fiquei muito satisfeita com a peça, que permite que eu exiba minha calça flare sem precisar colocar a blusa para dentro da calça. Além disso, a blusa parece perfeita para realçar colares.

obs.: Já experimentei dois sites de compras onlines: Privalia e Brandsclub. Todos os dois são bastante organizados e confiáveis. É permitido até trocar a peça ou pedir estorno, caso a roupa não sirva, entre outras situações.

Fiquei muito feliz com a resposta positiva que recebi no post anterior, especialmente em relação as torradas. Elas são feitas da seguinte forma:

Passe um pouco de manteiga na torrada, em seguida, coloque uma pitada de açúcar e canela. Leve ao forno e aproveite! Fica uma delícia no lanche da tarde na companhia de um filme.

  Recently Iv'e explored the world of virtual shopping. I've bought (many) books and such, but I'd never tried out clothes until I saw this one. It was my first adventure on online shopping, and I was very pleased with the purchase. The long-sleeved knot shirt allows me to exhibit my flare jeans, in a way that I don't have to tuck it in. Besides, it seems perfect to wear with necklaces that are chunky enough to make a statement.

I was really happy when I saw the positive response I got to the previous post, especially about the toasts. Here is the recipe:

Add a thin coat of butter to the toast. After that, sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon on it. Leave it in the oven for a couple of minutes and enjoy it! It makes for a great afternoon of snacks and movies! 

Um dia histórico / A historical day

    Apesar de morar ao lado do Rio de Janeiro, confesso que não conhecia grande parte dos lugares históricos da cidade. Há um tempo atrás tomei a decisão de mudar essa realidade. O primeiro passeio foi uma visita ao centro do Rio durante uma linda manhã de sábado. Conseguir parar e admirar os lindos prédios e monumentos daquele lugar sem a agitação dos dias da semana. É incrível a quantidade de prédios históricos existentes dentro de três quarteirões, e é fantástico como nós passamos uma vida inteiro cruzando esses quarteirões alienados à história ali inserida e ainda viva.

 
   Even though I live next door to Rio de Janeiro, I confess that I was oblivious to a major part of the city's historical sites. A while ago I decided to change that reality, and for starters, I visited the historical downtown buildings during a lovely Saturday morning. That day I was able to stop and admire the beautiful building without the chaos which the days of the week bring to the neighborhood. I was in awe at the massive amount of historical monuments that exist within the limits of only three blocks. It's amazing how we cross those streets during our entire lives neither minding nor noticing the history there inserted and still pretty much alive.

Paiê, me empresta sua blusa?

   Blusa de botão é uma das peças mais recorrentes do meu armário por sua versatilidade. Porém,  o que eu realmente gosto de fazer é usar as do meu pai, por serem maiores e mais confortáveis, além de adicionarem uma certa personalidade ao visual. Normalmente, jogo as blusas por cima de composições mais femininas, mas desta vez, decidi usá-la com uma calça de linho cintura alta. Deixei que o cabelo solto, o clog  e o detalhe do lacinho na calça adicionassem um toque feminino ao visual.


  One of the most recurrent piece of clothing in my wardrobe is the button-down shirt, due to its versatility. However, what I really enjoy doing is wearing my father's shirts, since they're bigger and more comfortable. Also, they somehow add personality to the outfit. Usually, I wear them over feminine outfits, but this time I've decided to match it with high waist linen trousers. The detail of the bow, the clogs and the loose curly hair add femininity to the look.

É sábado de manhã! Que alegria!

   Por várias vezes já expressei meu amor pelas manhãs do fim de semana. Como meus compromissos ao longo da semana normalmente resultam em cansaço, raramente saio sexta à noite. Isso me dá a oportunidade de aproveitar as manhãs de sábado, que vêm como auroras promissoras de dias de descanso. Comemorei uma dessas manhãs com uma ida à uma feirinha local e com a minha cor preferida: azul!

   I've already expressed my love for the weekend mornings many times before. Since my week activities usually take the best of me, I rarely go out on Friday nights. That gives me the opportunity to enjoy Saturday mornings, which come as promising dawns of restful days. I celebrated one of these mornings going to a local fair and wearing my favorite color: blue!
